In this chapter we see a lot of things going on. Jesus' followers fix a meal on the Sabbath. Then Jesus heals a man on the Sabbath. Both were no-no's because they weren't supposed to "work" on this day off.

Then the Word goes on to say, "Do unto others as you would like them to do to you", but then it goes on to say, "But don't just be nice to those who're nice to you" as if to say, "Spread love, don't be selfish, fam!" Lol.

I think what this chapter tackles isn't an issue of whether or not rules should be taken seriously, but Jesus makes points to express that the law was created to bring order out of chaos. However, good deeds and intentions will always be considered so that we can always choose life over death and rest assured that the consequences will still be just. I believe the Lord won't frown upon you for jaywalking to save someone from being hit by a speeding car. I also believe that God knows our hearts. It's the root of everything so long as we let His Spirit abide in us, it will help to guide us when the decision isn't always so clear. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, do not depend on your own understanding". :)
