“Every word of God is pure (proves true); He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.” Proverbs 30:5
I don’t like to be fooled. No one does. Have you ever put your trust in someone and they let you down? Maybe it was a career decision, relationship or a financial decision. Maybe it was just someone who’s words you trusted, and they were later proven faulty or even a lie? I think it’s a good thing to seek advice from people you trust, and from people who have been proven successful, but, we also need to use caution putting our whole hope in a person (whether it be the government, the media, a teacher, a pastor, etc....), because lets face it, we all have faults. No human being is perfect.
Thankfully, we have a God who IS perfect in every way. Man will let you down in one way or another, but God never will. Like it says in that verse,
Every word of God is pure...”, there is also a reference to this in Psalms 12:6 “ ....The words of the LORD are pure words, like silver tried in a furnace of the earth, purified seven times.” Seriously, you can’t get anymore pure than that. Not a speck of imperfection. How cool is that?
That’s why it says in verse :5 that “He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.” We can be protected from falsehoods, from lies or from misdirection. When we trust in His word and meditate on it daily, we can rest assured that what we read and are guided by is trustworthy, without blemish or fault.
I encourage you that when you are needing help or seeking advice, read the word....Maybe do a bible study with a friend....it is the living a breathing word of God.
