In Luke 12, we learn of the warnings that Jesus gives to His people on how to act, what to do and what are some consequences. It is a chapter where God is very direct, but what’s amazing about it is that no matter how powerful and mighty Our God is, we can really see how much He cares for us and we can feel comfort and security if we do obey His commands. By obeying just the smallest commands, I’ve received so much freedom and joy in my life that those who don’t have God yet in their lives cannot understand how or why. I have completely surrendered myself and am dependent on Him. Now there are 2 simple commands in this chapter I would like to make emphasis on and that’s 1) Fear God and 2) Do not worry. A non-believer may ask the question, “What kind of commands are these?” Well, these are God’s and they are life changing believe it or not. As it says in 1Corinthians 1:25, “For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom.”

In Luke 12:4-6, Jesus says to fear no man but Him, because no man is capable of doing what God is able to do. Accepting this and having a Godly fear, I refuse and try not to do anything that is displeasing in His eyes. Therefore by straying away from negative things, I actually reap many benefits (for example, changes in my character, habits, environment and improvement on my skills & talents).  At the same time too, I can walk home, day or night (of course, being cautious and not walking into trouble), and have no fear of anything or anyone and I just walk in freedom.

Finally, in Luke 12:22-31 we are told not to worry. “Whether you have enough food to eat or clothes to wear. For life consists of far more than food and clothing. Look at the ravens. They don’t need to plant or harvest or put food in barns because God feeds them. And you are far more valuable to Him than any birds! Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?” Amen! So awesome. Jesus still continues on and it’s just so comforting. I would be so stressed out when I worried about everything, but the moment I gave up and decided to just trust God and take those big leaps of faith in Him, wow, I tell you. I have so much peace and joy now. God is in complete control of my life and He knows what my needs are and has never failed to provide because He can never go against His own word.

I want to encourage you to be obedient and loyal to our Heavenly Father and just take those big leaps of faith. I promise that you will benefit massively and will gain so much in doing so. God is an awesome God and He loves you and wants nothing more than the best for you.
